Your Shearwater adventure begins the moment you step off the plane at the Bella Bella airport, where the crisp coastal air greets you with the scent of the Pacific. A short cab ride brings you to the dock, where the Shearwater Water Taxi awaits to whisk you across the channel to Denny Island. As you glide over the calm waters, you’ll catch your first glimpses of the lush rainforest, rugged shoreline, and perhaps even a bald eagle soaring overhead—setting the tone for the days ahead.
When you arrive at Shearwater Resort, our friendly staff will meet you at the dock and help guide you to the Lodge. After checking in, you’ll settle into your cozy room – complete with all the comforts you need after a day of travel. Once you’ve unpacked, it’s time to relax and enjoy a hearty dinner at the Lodge’s restaurant, where a home cooked meal and warm hospitality set the stage for your stay. With an early morning ahead, you’ll turn in for a restful night’s sleep, lulled by the sounds of the sea.
At dawn, the real adventure begins. After breakfast, you’ll head down to the marina where your experienced fishing guide and fully equipped vessel await. Each boat comes stocked with gear, bait, and safety equipment—everything you need for a full day on the water. You’ll set off into the pristine fishing grounds of the Central Coast, known for abundant salmon, halibut, lingcod, and rockfish. As you cast your line and feel that first powerful tug, your guide will share local knowledge and techniques to help you land the catch of a lifetime.
Between fishing spots, you’ll take in the spectacular coastal scenery—towering trees, eagles soaring overhead, and perhaps even whales breaching in the distance. Lunch is enjoyed right on the boat, surrounded by nothing but ocean and wilderness.
Each afternoon, you’ll return to the resort with your day’s catch, where our fish processing team will clean, portion, and flash-freeze your fish, ready for transport home. The evenings are yours to unwind—share stories with fellow anglers over dinner, enjoy a drink at the bar, or simply take in the sunset from the dock.
By the end of your four or five day stay, you’ll leave with more than just coolers full of fish—you’ll take home unforgettable memories of world-class fishing, coastal adventure, and genuine hospitality in the heart of Heiltsuk territory. Shearwater Resort isn’t just a fishing trip—it’s a true West Coast experience.
