Shearwater is looking for a Shipyard Labourer/Trainee

The Shearwater Community was established in 1947 on the Central Coast of British Columbia near Bella Bella and is a popular destination for Sport Fishing, Eco-Tourism, commercial fishermen and mariners heading to and from Alaska via the Inside Passage. The company operates the only full services marine centre in the region with a 70-ton travel lift, vessel storage yard, large repair shop and hardware store.


We are seeking a strong, energetic, dependable labour/trainee to learn the shipyard business, to operate a travel lift and work with our team of mechanics, welders and shipyard specialists.

Self-motivated, hard worker and willing to learn.

Important to have knowledge of boats and basic experience in the marine industry.

Certified to operate forklifts, skid-steers and other equipment would be an asset.

Valid drivers licence, experience in receiving and shipping freight.

Maintain a high standard of site cleanliness and orderly work environment

Must be flexible and open to performing various tasks and duties as needed

Willingness to live in a small town and semi-remote area

Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations

Job Benefits

Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a year-round position with subsidized accommodation or bring your own live-aboard or RV. Relocation costs from Vancouver or Vancouver Island are provided.
