Shearwater, also known as the ‘Gateway to the Great Bear Rainforest, is located on the Central Coast of British Columbia near Bella Bella. The community was established in 1947 and is a popular destination for Sport Fishing, Eco-Tourism, commercial fishermen and mariners heading to and from Alaska via the Inside Passage.
Shearwater is the important full-service marine centre on the Central Coast with a 70-ton travel lift, vessel storage yard, large repair shop and hardware store.
We are the Central Coast Dealer for Volvo Penta and are prepared to pay top remuneration for an experienced mechanic with Volvo engine and sterndrive experience.
We are also looking for an energetic, dependable apprentice mechanic with previous marine experience willing to join our team to attain mechanical certification.
We are seeking a resident marine mechanic to join our team of skilled specialists to services all types of marine engines, gears and stern drives.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair various marine engines and general vessel equipment, including electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
Work effectively and efficiently with customers and prioritize daily work.
Familiar with testing and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to complete work orders and time cards accurately.
Attention to detail, computer literate and maintain accurate maintenance reports.
Must be flexible and open to performing other tasks and duties as needed
Willingness to live in a small town and semi-remote area
Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
These are full-time positions with subsidized accommodation or bring your own live-aboard or RV. Relocation costs from Vancouver or Vancouver Island are provided.
