When you join us for your saltwater fishing adventure, you will need to have a tidal waters BC fishing license, with salmon stamp. This fishing license can be obtained easily online before your trip. We recommend all of our guests to purchase your license online before your fishing adventure begins.
If you are unable to obtain your license online prior to your fishing trip, we are a registered Independant Access Provider (IAP) and can issue a license, at Shearwater on Denny Island, before heading out on the water.
Licences are purchased annually and are good from April 1 to March 31.
Fishing in British Columbia requires a fishing license issued by Fisheries & Oceans Canada. Costs to obtain the license vary depending on the length of the license. For a 3-day fishing trip at Shearwater a minimum of a 3-day license would be required, which costs $11.55 for BC residents and $19.95 for non-residents. Below, is a breakdown of various costs of the fishing license.

Salmon Conservation Stamp (annual)

A Salmon Conservation Stamp must be affixed to the B.C. Tidal Waters Sport Fishing licence of any person who wishes to catch and retain any species of salmon. The stamp is valid from April 1- March 31st of each fishing season.
Once you have a printed copy of your B.C. Tidal Waters Sport Fishing licence, you can go fishing. Remember to bring your copy of the licence with you while you are fishing.

The cost of a pleasure craft operators card is $44.95 and is valid for life.
You can take advantage of our dockside exam for a temporary license or apply online and get a license sent to you through the mail.
All operators of powered watercraft used for recreational purposes within Canada require the card.
The card is valid in the following provinces:
Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador.
