Summer 2019

By | On The Water | No Comments

Hello Summer 2019!

The 2019 Fishing season is underway at Shearwater Resort & Marina and our first couple of guests have found success on the water and have left with big smiles on their faces.  Our first group brought in five Chinooks ranging between 20 to 29 pounds, a nice Coho and a Halibut weighing in at 44 pounds.  Many smaller Chinooks were reeled in weighing between 12 to 20 pounds and released back into the water.  They also hooked several Ling Cod and Rockfish during their trip.

The second group staying at our extremely popular Hideaway Floathouse found their stride on their last day at Shearwater.  They brought in six small Halibut along with three Chinooks before heading back to Vancouver. Now that’s a catch!!

We were happy to see our guests’ excitement of fighting those salmon and satisfaction with their experience over the opening days up here at Shearwater. This is the stuff we live for and we know the summer ahead is shaping up to be a great one.

Tight Lines!

First Guests

Well, things are underway here at Shearwater Resort & Marina.  The season has been great to our first guests, who all wish they could be sent home with more.  We’ve had a number of groups visit with each catching slightly larger fish than the previous catch (and group – sorry previous group!).

Our most recent guests have been reeling in some beautiful salmon. Two highlights have been a couple of 4o pounders as recorded by the team at the Sport Fish dock.  Almost all guests have been catching their limits of Chinooks as well as numerous Coho as well.

Halibut fishing has been a little spotty, our dock manager Jim has reported.  With that said, he’s seen a number between 35 – 4o pounds and a few beauties weighed in at the Sport Dock just north of the 40-pound mark, so far.  Optimism remains very high and he’s confident future guests will not be left disappointed!

That’s all for now, folks.
