Creating lasting memories and providing best of class service for all guests to Shearwater Resort and Marina is a top priority for our staff. Please feel free to have a quick look at how we have gone above and beyond the call for our guests.
We got to fish every day from the day we arrived to the day we left and caught something every day. We feel we had one of the best guides available, Mike Hall, who worked extremely hard to ensure the best possible results in catching the various fish we asked him to pursue. During our fishing we got to see many Bald Eagles swoop down on their prey and the crowning touch was seeing a family of Black Bears eating on the shoreline.
From the booking to the final ending Pauline Imamura really took care of us making sure everything was in place and all the details were taken care of, we could not ask for a better host, she was our shining star!
The only things that were missing were the TV only had two stations and the stores hours were such that we did not have very much access time, but this was a getaway vacation so what the heck!
This resort is a fisherman's dream!

Mrs. Gardom and I are most grateful to Shearwater Marine Resort for providing a guided fishing trip for us at such short notice during our HMCS REGINA tour in September.
Just Terrific! We had a marvelous time, and all the expert assistance we received from your crew was most appreciated. "TIGHT LINES", and ever the grandest over the holiday season, and for a very happy, healthy and fulfilling year ahead.

My husband and have frequented Shearwater over the years and have nothing but high praise for your facility. What stands out the most is the people that work for you.
It starts with the fishing guide my son and his friend had earlier in the summer. He made sure the kids caught their limit and just happened to call in a pod of Orcas for a show.
Your man on the dock, held our catch in the freezer until we past through this last week and help deliver it to our boat. No questions asked.
Your harbor master, was the most patient and accommodating yet. We came in a day earlier than our planned reservation. Knowing our chances were slim to get a slip because it was a Monday and the fish were jumping. We anchored out to find that our generator had lost power and wouldn't be able to generate power to keep our freezers going. We hailed him again and he was able to fit us in at the last minute. Knowing that a spoiled fish is no fun for anyone.
We then met with your office to schedule a service. Painless and very efficient. Obviously, she had dealt with this before.
One of your mechanics was out the next morning. He knew exactly what the problem was. The marine store order the part and it came in two days later. Not bad for the wilderness.
The night before the part came, my husband had a medical emergency. My husband was hoping to catch the last water taxi to Bella Bella, but just missed it. We went to the bar and asked the women behind what our options were to get to the hospital. She called over the radio to see where a captain was. He came back and got my husband and took him to Bella Bella, no questions asked. He wouldn't even accept money for the fare. The captain had the EMT and ambulance waiting on the other side. This is all happening around 1:00 am. This captain deserves special praise.
The other gentlemen who drives the water taxi, slightly round with a beautiful infectious smile, drove my husband back the next morning. He too, didn't charge for the fare.
The part showed up after all this and I let the office know our urgency to get it on board and our generator fixed as we needed to head south as soon as we could for more medical treatment. Again everyone complied with no questions asked!
Our vacation will end a few days early, but our experience at Shearwater will be remembered as a great one.

"We Truly Appreciate You And All You Have To Offer"
We want to take this opportunity to show our appreciation to you and your staff. We cruise the Central Coast every summer for several months and are in and out of Shearwater several times. We were delighted on our return this summer to be met at the dock once again by Christophe. With his efficiency, courtesy, knowledge of boats and calm controlled manner he manages your docks brilliantly. We always look forward to a pub lunch or two and to stock up in the store. Fiona is always there to greet us with a smile and has gone the extra mile to help us reprovision many times over the last 5 years. We truly appreciate you being here and all you have to offer. We hope to be cruising the Central Coast for many years to come and look forward to visiting many more times. Thank You.

"Wonderful People, Enjoyed the Wildlife"
We had a great stay here last autumn, met wonderful people and enjoyed the wildlife around us. Everyone was very kind, we had a real good time at the Resort and will come back for sure! :-)
I've been meaning to get off a letter to you to compliment you and the crew at Shearwater. I've lost count but it must be about my fifteenth trip this year and once again we had no trouble getting our limit in Salmon. It seems every year there is something new and this year the addition of the electric downriggers was a welcome treat as we spend so much time up and down with the gear because of the action. The meals were the best I've experienced yet and please pass my compliments to the chef. I should also mention that Pauline was as usual a great host and took great care of us. I am already looking forward to next year!
Just got home from staying at Shearwater and I wanted to take a moment to express some gratitude.
Those who travel to Shearwater will benefit by appreciating that you are in a remote setting despite them doing everything I could have thought of to make this place have all the amenities some might be used to. Be flexible, be open to the experience, and above all, I'll suggest you simply look inside and have some gratitude for all that many of us enjoy in life. Take in the beauty of the surrounding area. An eagle gets it, as it sits perched on a nearby tree taking it all in.
I also traveled every day back and forth into Bella Bella and the water taxi operators were also friendly and engaging. I was lucky to be the only person on one trip and got to spend some time speaking with Vern who talked about fishing and how to harvest herring roe and also the importance of this to the local diet. I hope you got out on the water, Vern, and got in some great fishing and I thank you for sharing your stories with me.
Walking around Bella Bella, one gets a strong sense of community and be prepared to wave, say hi, and acknowledge complete strangers as they all first did that to me and made me feel welcome. Check out the new local library, pull up a chair and sit at a table with others (maybe those same strangers who just waved or said hi and made you feel welcome) at the local restaurant, do some shopping and talking and enjoy your time. The water taxi back to Shearwater was full and a spontaneous round of "Happy Birthday to you" to a girl at the front broke out with all joining in.
“Kind Staff, Very Helpful, Beautiful Location”
I stayed at Shearwater earlier this month before embarking on a long, no-phone coverage and no-internet trip from which I've just returned. What a beautiful location overlooking the water, and what kind and helpful staff. The rooms are simple, yes, but have decent wi-fi and a lounge where you can read all about the humpback whales and bears in the area. The nearby grill and restaurant is delicious, while shops like Hodge-Podge are a delight to visit. Definitely do read the history of Shearwater, which used to be an RCAF base.
WOW, what a great year again at Shearwater Resort, a great big 'Thank You' once again for as job well done! The food at Shearwater was absolutely terrific. The employees including the waitresses, fishing guides and your hotel hosts are absolutely wonderful people. The one thing that really sticks in my mind after having so many groups up there is how hard your guides work at getting everyone their fish, whether it be Salmon or Halibut. Your accommodations are very good but it is your terrific employees that really make the difference. I have never had a bad experience with all of the many groups I have taken to Shearwater Marine Resort.

Two stays at the marina this summer and they receive my highest acclaim. Your staff were the best! We were given ample assistance on the dock and the shop executed boat repairs with speed and success. We look forward to a return.

Shearwater is a long ways away from any major center, in fact from any roads! The only way to get there is by plane or boat as it is located on Denny Island on the central coast of BC. I was very fortunate to be able to visit for a conference hosted at Shearwater Resort and Marina and it was spectacular! Absolutely amazing views from our meeting room, fantastic food and great people. Will have to come back for sure to check out more of their activities, our short boat - sightseeing trip was just a teaser of all the things to do.

My husband and I had the very good fortune to spend 5 nights at the Shearwater Marina a couple of weeks ago due to problems with one of the motors on our boat. What a lovely spot to be stuck in, however, as the weather was hot and sunny for all of the five days we were there. Because we had to fly parts for our motor in from Vancouver over a week-end, we were there when they had a very enjoyable ceremony and salmon barbecue to dedicate a memorial to the RCAF pilots who had been stationed there during WW2, plus we witnessed the unveiling of a locally-carved native carving and a truly fabulous mural which portrayed the first settlers to the area and some of the influential natives from the nearby village of Bella Bella. We ate in the Fisherman's Grill every evening and thoroughly enjoyed the large and diverse menu. The halibut and chips and the salmon were especially good and on two of the evenings we ate our dinner whilst listening to a wonderful Brass quintet from Kelowna play some great music. The service in the restaurant was excellent but a special mention goes to our server who was truly outstanding. We would also like to thank the Marine Shop who went over and above to help us out by ordering not once, nor twice, but three times, the necessary motor parts to be flown in from Vancouver. A tip of the hat must go to the harbourmaster who juggles a difficult job with great ease and aplomb and is always around to lend a helping hand. Finally, a special mention must go to the the awesome Shearwater mechanic, without whose help and expertise we would have been in real trouble. Thank you all the great people we met at Shearwater Resort and Marina. We definitely plan to return there on our next boat trip through the Inside Passage.

I just wanted to drop a short line to thank you and the Shearwater Group for making our recent fishing trip an excellent one. As you are aware, my friends, business acquaintances and I had the good fortune to catch our limit at the resort. As Rob is an accomplished and avid fisherman, the fact that your resort won him over completely is great praise indeed. As well, I want to also thank you and your staff for not only the fishing but also for the fine accommodations and meals. Congratulations on the success of the resort and I wish you continued success for it.
